  1.      These are  birds which have been given names that sound similar to their songs, birds which are well known in popular culture and folklore. Examples that come readily to mind are the Whip-poor-will, Eastern Phoebe, Black-capped Chickadee, Killdeer, and Bobolink. Many of these were named by early pioneers well before more formal species names were assigned such as Yellow Warbler and Song Sparrow, and many of these names have withstood the test of time.

  3.      There are ten birds you can easily hear and identify who sing their name. The following is a list, in  American Ornithologists' Union order, of these birds:
